Remote Accounting & Financial Planning Manager

Precision Nutrition is looking for a remote working Accounting & Financial Planning Manager who’s passionate about health, fitness and helping people live their best life.

As one of the largest nutrition coaching companies in the world we need an adept number-cruncher to help make cents of our finances (sorry, not sorry).

We need a meticulous accountant who knows how to manage payments, audit our books, and help us forecast for the future so we can help millions more people live healthier, happier lives.

Join our adventure

We need a sharp-witted accountant to keep us in balance

We’ve got an exciting journey ahead of us…

To help us reach and track our financial goals and keep us moving forward, we need a personable and detail-oriented accountant / analyst who will work closely with thought leaders across functional areas at PN including Marketing, Product, and Technology as you help us not only understand the empirical data but help us translate that to a compelling future.

Who we’re looking for

A talented accountant / analyst with the ability to juggle tasks

You know the tools of the trade. You live and breathe Microsoft Excel, and you’re familiar with Sage Intacct or similar ERPs. You don’t shy away from other tech tools, like Slack, Google Docs, and the usual remote work staples.

You’re an exceptional communicator. You know how to get your message across clearly and concisely. You will be in regular contact with other members of the team and third parties outside the company, so you know how to stay on top of communications and be clear about what you want.

You’re flexible and resilient. PN is a fast-evolving company, and you have to thrive in an environment where you’re always learning. You’re comfortable wearing other hats from time to time, and rolling up your sleeves to get things done—even if certain tasks are above or below the usual scope of your job.

You’re a prioritizing multi-tasker with a sense of urgency. You’re a highly organized problem-solver, you know how to prioritize, adapt quickly when the scope changes—because it often will—and thrive in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

You’re a stickler for the details. You are careful, cautious and incredibly meticulous. Some may even call you nitpicky (in an endearing way, of course). You dream about dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s. Nothing slips by the net when you’re goalie.

You’re self-motivated and can work independently and remotely. Once you are confident in what you need to do, you can run with it and don’t need a lot of direction. You have strong self-structure and discipline, and have worked remotely either currently or in the past, so you know the benefits and the challenges.

You’re a team-oriented, people person. You know how to communicate and coordinate. You earn and give respect so that you can collaborate effectively with your team. Oh, and since you get to do all of this remotely, from the comfort of your home, your people skills will need to be truly first class.

What you’ll be doing

Accurately reporting our finances every step of the way

We’re the financial backbone of the company, and you’re our boots on the ground—getting things done to support the team in any way possible.
That means being exposed to (but not necessarily responsible for) all aspects of our financial budgeting and strategy, including:

  • Month-end preparation. You’ll help make sure everything balances at the end of the month, preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and reports. You’ll do this by helping to manage a team of outsourced accountants. The debits and credits are done by partner experts; you will help ensure the work is up to PN standards.
  • Managing payments. From accounts payable to expense payments and payroll coordination, you’ll make sure everyone who needs to get paid, gets paid on time.
  • Dealing with VAT compliance. You’ll handle VAT tax reconciliations and remittances in addition to US sales taxes, when applicable.
  • Performing asset reviews. You’ll review our fixed and intangible assets, as well as reconciliation and roll forward maintenance.
  • Assist in annual audit. You’ll help with preliminary and annual audits and tax return filings.

And on the analytical side………..

  • Financial scenario planning. Working closely with the CFO and PN operational leaders, you will build models and analytical tools to help us understand what is going on in our business.
  • Link to Marketing. You’ll be our eyes and ears to make sure we understand the financial implications of new products, price changes, and changes in offerings.
  • Cash flow forecasting. You will help track and analyze where and when we will be spending our money and all the reporting and analysis that goes along with that.

A few important caveats

This is a dream job, if you’re the right person for it.

Must-Have #1: You must be experienced.

This isn’t your first (or second) rodeo. You have a minimum of 5 – 10 years experience in an accounting role assisting with audit work and participating in month-end and year-end reporting cycles. Experience in budgeting and forecasting is not required but would be considered an asset. You are working towards or already have your CPA designation.

Must-Have #2: You must be an Excel wizard.

Yeah, we’re mentioning this twice for a reason. You don’t just know how to run the sum of a column. Conditional formatting, Vlookup, and auditing formulas are in your blood, and you know pivot tables aren’t something you’ll find in a hotel restaurant.

Must-Have #3: You live in Canada.

We are a fully-remote, global team and you get to work from home. However, since we operate in Canada we need an accountant experienced in Canadian laws and regulations.

Wondering if this is the right path for you?

Every year, professionals at the top of their field choose to join Precision Nutrition.

Here are some reasons why.

Reason #1: We give you the freedom to “do you.”

Unlike most companies, we don’t have rigid rules about how and when to do things. You’ll always be free to work independently, whenever, wherever, and however you want.

Reason #2: You can work from anywhere.

We’re a 100% remote company, and have been working remote for 17 years. We’re ideally looking for candidates in Canada but will consider the US as well. When you join our team, you’re no longer shackled to one desk in one office!

Reason #3: Meetings are optional. (No, really.)

You’re an adult. You’re capable of deciding how your time should be spent. If you don’t think you need to attend a meeting, you don’t. Simple as that.

Reason #4: You’ll always feel supported.

In a regular office, it’s easy to feel like a hamster in a wheel, powerless to change things. At Precision Nutrition, we work as a team to overcome issues & barriers that stand in each other’s way, and we treat each other with enthusiasm, compassion, and care.

Reason #5: You’ll never be bored.

People often come to Precision Nutrition after hitting a plateau in their old jobs. At PN, you’ll get the chance to conquer new challenges, learn from the best, and reach thrilling new heights of personal and professional growth.

Reason #6: You’re free to be you.

At Precision Nutrition, we want everyone to live healthier, happier lives—no matter your race, age, gender, religion, or sexual orientation. That’s why diversity is a key ingredient of our workforce, so we can best represent the people we serve. Everyone is welcome—as an inclusive workplace, we want our employees to bring their authentic whole selves to work. Be you.

Plus: no commute … and no 9-to-5 grind.

Sound like we might just be the perfect company for you?  Then you might just be the perfect fit for us. Click Apply for this Job below to get started!
